WordPress Template FAQs
Questions to ask before you pick a template.
About the templates
What is a WordPress template?
A WordPress template is a website design that's already laid out, with the pages, sections and styling in place. The ones here were designed in-house for specific service businesses and built in Elementor Pro. I restyle yours to your brand and fill it with content written for your business.
Is a website template the same as a WordPress theme?
Not quite. A theme controls the overall look of a WordPress site, like fonts, colors, headers and footers. A template is a ready-made design for the pages themselves, sitting on top of the theme. These templates come with every page and section already designed, so they're much closer to a finished website than a theme on its own.
Will a template site still show up in search results?
Yes. Google ranks pages on their content, structure and speed, not on whether the design started as a template. Every page gets on-page and technical SEO, content written around what your customers search for and an optimized Google Business Profile. The SEO research is more basic than on a custom build.
Does AI build my site?
No. Every website is built by a real person in Chandler, AZ, in Elementor Pro, so the site is fully editable and easy to use. You also get about 20 minutes of training videos, split into three or four short parts, recorded on your real dashboard and your real site. They walk through editing your pages, adding and deleting images, clearing the cache, finding your way around the dashboard and changing your page titles and descriptions.
Can I use a template made for a different industry?
Yes. Any business can use any template, as long as your content can reasonably fit the layout. A pressure washing company could use the landscaping template, for example. The content is written for your business either way.
Buying and cost
What is the process to buy a template?
Choose a template and send a request from its card. I'll call you within 1 business day to talk it through. From there you get a design agreement and an invoice, and once it's paid, you fill out the intake form and send your logo and photos. You check the finished site for accuracy before it launches.
Is payment due upfront?
Yes. The full invoice is paid before work starts, since most templates are finished in a week or two and you know exactly what you're getting. You can pay by card on the invoice (adds a 4% card fee), with a Cash App balance on the invoice, by Venmo sent as a personal payment (other Venmo payments add a fee) or by Zelle with no fee, though some banks limit Zelle amounts. Payment plans are available through Afterpay on the invoice, which adds 6% and is subject to Afterpay's terms.
Are there monthly or ongoing fees?
No. Nothing monthly is required to keep your site online, and the site is yours. Your hosting and domain are paid to those providers, and Elementor Pro is $49 a year after the first year. Maintenance plans are optional, and I recommend a quarterly SEO checkup with the SEO Lite package.
Are there other costs or fees?
Your hosting and domain are billed by those providers. The first year of Elementor Pro is included under my license, then it's $49 a year. You can move to your own Elementor plan and manage it yourself. If the renewal goes unpaid, the subscription cancels right away, and some features can stop working or parts of the layout can break. Hosting setup, extra pages and a blog are optional add-ons.
What all is included?
WordPress setup and template installation, restyling to your branding, content written for you, on-page and technical SEO on every page, Google Business Profile optimization, a fully responsive layout, the first year of Elementor Pro, training videos recorded on your site and 7 days of post-launch support.
What are the requirements?
You'll need a domain and WordPress hosting in your name, your logo, brand colors and photos, a completed intake form and payment in full. I use Bluehost, and hosting setup is available as an add-on that includes Google Search Console. It takes about 30 minutes of your time near your phone for verification codes.
The build
Do I have to set up the template myself?
No. I install and configure WordPress and the template, restyle it to your brand, write the content and launch it. Your part is the intake form, your logo and photos, and a final check before launch.
Who writes the content for the site?
I do. It's the same process as a custom site. You fill out an intake form about your services, customers and service area, and I write from your answers. SEO research is more limited on templates. You review everything for accuracy before launch.
How long does a template site take?
A single page site is usually live in about a week and a multi-page site in about two. Those are averages, and the clock starts once I have everything I need from you.
Do I get revisions?
There aren't revision rounds. Before launch, you do a final check to make sure the content is accurate and swap any images. Added sections are billed at $75 an hour, and those can be changed or revised. Nothing launches until the full balance is paid.
Can I change the layout or add sections?
The templates are built to launch an existing design quickly, so the layout stays as designed. Your colors, fonts, images and content all change. Added sections and features are billed at $75 an hour. If you'd need to change a lot, a custom website is the better fit.
Can I add extra pages?
Yes. Extra pages are a flat-rate add-on, before launch or any time after.
Can I add a blog?
Yes. A blog is a flat-rate package you can add at launch or later.
After launch
Can I edit the template myself?
Yes. The site is built in Elementor Pro, so you edit right on the page with no coding, and your training videos show you how.
What is in the training videos?
About 20 minutes of video, split into three or four short parts so they're easy to watch. They're recorded on your own dashboard and your own site, not a generic tutorial. They cover editing text on your pages, adding and deleting images, clearing the cache, finding your way around the WordPress dashboard and changing your page titles and descriptions for search.
What support is included?
7 days of post-launch support, in case anything goes wrong after the site goes live. After that, help is available hourly or through an optional maintenance plan.
Can I hire you to make changes or additions later?
Yes. Changes and added sections are billed at $75 an hour, and extra pages and a blog are flat rate. If the additions start to outgrow the template, we'd talk about a custom site instead.
Custom Web Design
Looking for something more?
The templates are built to launch a proven design fast. If you need more pages, booking or payment features, a team section or a redesign that protects the rankings you already have, a custom website gets planned around your business from the start.
